OVERSEAS VISITS

During her reign, The Queen has travelled more than any other Sovereign in history.

Her Majesty's first official overseas visit was made to South Africa when, as Princess Elizabeth, she toured the country with her parents and sister in 1947.

Since that time, Her Majesty has undertaken over 250 official overseas visits to more than 130 different countries.

On average, Her Majesty pays two outward State Visits each year - accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh - on the advice of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Official visits abroad and visits to Commonwealth countries are also regularly made.

This month The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh pays State Visits to Slovenia and Slovakia for the first time.

October's Focus marks this historic occasion with a gallery of images from previous overseas visits.
