Y is for Yeomen

Yeomen of the Guard are the oldest group of Royal bodyguards. They wear bright red and yellow uniforms with a stiff white collar. In the past their job was to protect the king or queen wherever they went - they even checked royal food to make sure there was no poison in it. Today the Yeomen of the Guard stand on duty at Royal ceremonies. Yeomen Warders have a similar uniform but they guard the Tower of London.
