M is for Messages from The Queen

The Queen sends out a special card to anybody who is celebrating their 100th birthday or to couples who have been married for 60 years (a Diamond Wedding Anniversary). In 2000, The Queen even sent a special message to her mother, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, when she celebrated her 100th birthday.

A special office at Buckingham Palace sends out all the messages and makes sure they arrive in time for the big day. You can ask for a message for your grandparents or other relations by writing in for an application form.
