The Royal Mews is the department that supplies all carriages and cars for State, official and unofficial occasions. In addition to providing its ceremonial output, The Royal Mews is also responsible for caring for and training Her Majesty's carriage horses and maintaining the Royal Carriage Collection.
An experienced and dynamic individual is sought to manage the Royal Mews Stores. Reporting directly to the Crown Equerry, the post-holder will be required to assume responsibility for the control and purchase of all Royal Mews stock, managing the stores and forage accounts, sourcing new suppliers and controlling the bids for tender process. The Stores Manager is also responsible for managing a team of restoration and maintenance staff (saddlers and carriage restorers, amongst others) and for providing liaison with Property Services. Additional duties include providing for the turnout of specific individuals on State and Ceremonial parades.
Successful candidates will have substantial experience of managing stores, stock purchasing and control. The role requires a proactive individual with the ability to plan and deliver timely solutions. As a capable line manager and excellent communicator, the Stores Manager makes a significant contribution to the smooth running of The Royal Mews. Previous experience of working within an equestrian and ceremonial environment will be of an advantage.
