The Queen in Liverpool

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, will visit Liverpool on 22 May 2008.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness will arrive at Liverpool Lime Street Station.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will visit the Arena and Convention Centre Liverpool at Monarchs Quay. The Royal couple will tour the building and meet performers involved in events marking Liverpool's status as European Capital of Culture 2008 before Her Majesty officially opens the centre.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will afterwards visit Liverpool One retail quarter in the city centre. Her Majesty and His Royal Highness will tour the site and watch a theatrical performance by a youth theatre. The Duke will attend a 'topping out' ceremony to wish good luck to one of the completed buildings.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will later arrive at St. George's Hall. The Royal couple will attend a reception with guests involved in Liverpool Capital of Culture and the regeneration of the city, before attending a lunch given by the Lord Mayor.

In the afternoon The Queen will visit the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, of which Her Majesty is Patron, at Philharmonic Hall.

The Duke of Edinburgh, in his role as Patron, will visit Royal Mersey Yacht Club in Birkenhead.
